- Camping at
Harris Hill

- There is limited, primitive
camping available on Harris Hill for the 2009 Sports Class Soaring
Contest. Availability is on a first-come/first-served basis,
and there are no reservations. There is no formal registration
for occupying a camp site - just move in.

- This undeveloped campground
is located at the Harris Hill Youth Camp in a wooded area behind
the National Soaring Museum. The campground is available from
July 18th through July 30th. An access road is adjacent to the
public bathrooms on the North side of the wooded park area.

- Facilities

- There are 15 primitive
spaces available which will accommodate tents, and medium sized
campers or motor homes in unpaved spaces. Dry camping only is
permitted. There are no hook-ups for electricity, water,
or sanitary drains.

- The park has a large
swimming pool nearby which has showers and bathrooms accessible
tby campers. Additional public bathrooms are available near the
campground access road during daylight hours.

- Fresh water is available
at the nearby Youth Camp Building and from additional spigots
in the area. Water must be carried in your own containers to
your campsite. Trash cans will be available at several points
in the campground. Open campfires will not be allowed.
A number of pedestal-style barbecue grills are available. No
public sewage dumping facilities are available at Harris Hill.

- The nearby kiddie
park is open 12 noon until 9 PM, and has boardwalk style
food - hot dogs, burgers, etc. at their snack bar.

- The Harris Hill Park
Superintendent, Jim Stewart, lives in a house adjacent to the
North side of the Soaring Museum.

- There is no fee for
the use of the Harris Hill camping facilities.
