
GENERAL
In as much as the Discus will be stored in its trailer. Check-out in rigging and de-rigging.
If you intend to fly the Discus you must be there in the morning to help rigging or plan to stay and help cleaning and putting it away. If you are not able to do both, don't fly it.
FOR LOCAL FLIGHTS
Having been checked-out for the K-21 and meets the requirements to fly the K-21 from Harris Hill.
Check-out and log book endorsement by an instructor who has flown the Discus.
FOR CROSS-COUNTRY
Silver "C" Diploma.
A minimum of 10 flights in the Discus.
Check-out by a X-C instructor*.
Briefing on off-airport landings, at instructor's discretion.
Briefing by X-C instructor prior to take-off on first 3 X-Cs.
Preparation to fly with water ballast for the first time is to be supervised by an experienced Discus instructor. Also, must be briefed on the changes in handling etc.

ADDED REQUIREMENT FOR ANY X-C FLIGHT IN HHSC'S SAILPLANE (including instructional X-C flights)
Must write an article on the flight for the Newsletter, describing the experience, what was learned, what you will do different next time, etc. To be submitted to the editor within two weeks.
